Frequently Asked Questions

Ready Set Dance, Ready Set Ballet & Ready Set Acro

Can I watch my child’s classes?

Parents are welcome in the room to help their little one settle in and to get to know our warm and experienced staff. Once settled, parents can view every class through out classroom windows. In our experience, preschoolers are able to concentrate better without the distraction of other noise in the room from parents and other siblings. Our program has been endorsed by leading child care experts who support the independent learning model. As preschoolers participate in classes, they have the opportunity to develop additional secure attachments with adults (teachers) and peers. This helps them transition positively into the larger world and helps with school readiness.

All teachers have their Working with Children Check and follow the program that is endorsed by early learning experts. Ready Set Dance teachers are required to gain their certification from Ready Set Dance’s head office before delivering the program.

Students must wear the Ready Set uniform. However, we need to make sure we are the right fit for you and your child before committing to anything. Comfortable clothes and sneakers are fine for the first couple of lessons. Once your child has settled, you can purchase the official Ready Set uniform at reception, which we are sure you will love! Please see our uniform page for more information.

Watching day is where parents get to view their child dance as an audience in the classroom. It’s a chance for your child to begin their first step to working on their performance skills.

You may book a make-up class if you miss a class (as long as the make-up class is not full). Make-ups must be taken during the term of the missed class. We do recommend that you avoid alternating days too much, as preschoolers need the comfort of knowing that the same teacher and their friends will be there when they go to class.

Ready Set Dance airs on Nick Jr and Paramount+. You can also catch us on YouTube and the Nick Jr Play App. The Show has been so popular that it is now airing in 120 countries all over the world. Preschoolers love to dance along to their favourite songs from the TV show in their classes every week.

Ready Set Move

Who can participate in the classes?

Ready Set Move is an inclusive program that welcomes all grown-ups. Mums, dads, grandparents, and special friends can all join in the fun. We do ask that only one grown-up accompany each toddler to help us abide by space restrictions and requirements. Grown-ups need to be physically able to sit on the ground, get up and down off the floor, and lead toddlers through the exercises.

This program is designed for toddlers/preschoolers from walking age to 3 years who are more comfortable attending class with a grown-up.

The beginning of the class is the most structured part of the lesson. This circle time includes knee bounce nursery rhymes, the stretchy band, parachute fun and even some toddler aerobics. The next part of the class is a time for toddlers to be creative and use their imaginations playing instruments and our favourite themed dice game. In the third part, toddlers love to crawl through tunnels, balance on beams and explore a variety of different activities around the room. The class concludes with a calm and connect song with our giant feathers or bubbles, leading into sticker time.

The class has been created by experienced dance professionals, professional songwriters, and early learning experts. There are benefits in every song! Our original mirror song is designed to teach toddlers the 16 hand gestures they should be developing by 16 months.

“Playful exploration of music and dance with the support of a familiar caregiver can make a significant contribution to play, development and learning”
– Dr Cathie Harrison, Early Childhood and Gifted Education Consultant.

All teachers have their Working with Children Check (or equivalent) and follow the program that is endorsed by early learning experts. READY SET MOVE teachers are required to gain their certification from READY SET DANCE head office before delivering the program.

We have the official Ready Set Dance T-shirt, shorts or dress available at the studio for purchase. Black leggings or light tracksuit pants are also an option for toddlers who are sensitive to sitting on the dance flooring.

No. There are no dance shoes required for this class. Comfortable sneakers work perfectly.

You are also welcome to wear any clothes and sneakers that you feel comfortable being active in.

The program is designed to be enjoyed for the full year in school terms. The content is adapted each term to create new and exciting experiences, including seasonal celebrations. As toddlers build confidence and resilience, they can be transferred to the Ready Set Dance Level 1 program, which is an independent style class done without a grown-up.

Grown-ups enjoy this class just as much as toddlers! It’s a great way to meet other families in your local area and learn new ways to engage with your toddler at home.
